A new investment property has already paid a dividend for a Victorian woman, even before it has been completed.

By choosing roofing made from COLORBOND® steel for her new investment cottage in Werribee, Julie Stanley has won the major prize in the first round of the COLORBOND® steel "Make the Right Choice and Win" competition.

Ms Stanley won an $8,000 home entertainment package from BHP Steel.

The package includes a widescreen TV, DVD video player, Dolby digital receiver, active subwoofer, satellite speakers with speaker stands and a music voucher.

Ms Stanley selected roofing made from COLORBOND® steel for her period-style cottage in Melbourne's developing western suburbs.

After her builder, Terry Davies of Frankston-based Highview Homes, suggested she enter the COLORBOND® steel competition, Ms Stanley gave it little more thought until she was contacted by a BHP Steel representative.

"I was amazed because I'm one of those people who has never won anything like this before," she said.

"I remember the builder saying there was a competition, but I thought at the time that I would never win it."

Ms Stanley won the first phase of the COLORBOND® steel Make the Right Choice and Win competition.

The second phase is underway now and ends on March 31, with the final phase to run from April 1 to June 30.

For each phase, both a consumer and builder in Victoria will win an entertainment package.

To enter the competition, consumers simply need to purchase a new home that incorporates roofing made from COLORBOND® steel.

Consumers receive extra entries into the draw by choosing fencing, fascias and gutters made from COLORBOND® steel or framing made from ZINCALUME® steel for their new home. *

Homebuyers can enter the competition through participating builders Australia-wide.

Each winner receives an $8000 home entertainment package and runners-up receive a digital video camera valued at $1500.
