A
Sydney roofing specialist is dramatically cutting construction time
on large industrial buildings by making extensive use of steel cladding.
Roofing contractor WinWave, which specialises in roofing industrial
buildings using ZINCALUME® steel or COLORBOND® steel, recently
completed roofing a huge factory in Sydney's West for paper distribution
company Bracknells.
The building in Wetherill Park is 180 metres long, 50 metres wide
and used over 9000 square metres of ZINCALUME® steel on its roof.
"We can roof this type of building within around four weeks
using ZINCALUME® steel," said WinWave managing director Jurgen
Lenz.
"We specialise in roofing industrial buildings, which are
usually clad in steel because of the ease of use and speed of construction."
Developed by BHP Steel, ZINCALUME® steel offers a lightweight, strong
and durable cladding solution that is ideal for large scale industrial
buildings.
Local builder Satmell has been constructing large industrial warehouses
since 1980 and has watched the growing ascendancy of steel roofs.
"Over the last 20 years I have seen the Wetherill Park/Smithfield
area grow into the largest industrial area in the Southern Hemisphere,"
said Satmell owner Vince Mesiti.
"We have built probably nearly 50 factories in Wetherill Park
alone over that time and steel roofs are standard because of the
large spans achieved and speed of erection and durability."
