A
renowned Queensland builder has again been recognised for his luxurious
resort-style homes, winning a major award at the recent Housing Industry
Association Awards.
Glen Fuller won the HIA 2003 Australian Spec Home of the Year award
for a residence in Queensland's picturesque Noosa Waters.
The home was designed by local architect Paul Clout, who has won
a reputation for designing spectacular million-dollar dwellings.
The design, which incorporates five bedrooms and a pool within
the central courtyard, is capped off by a stunning roof made from
COLORBOND® steel in the colour Surfmist.
Developed by BHP Steel, COLORBOND® steel is a visually-striking,
long lasting cladding material.
The introduction of six new colours, together with an advanced
super polyester pre-painted coating technology, has given COLORBOND®
steel a total spread of the latest colours which will stay looking
newer longer.
Each of the 20 colour names is trademarked to distinguish COLORBOND®
steel in the marketplace and to ensure confidence among customers
that it is the genuine article.
The Glen Fuller built resort-style home impressed the HIA judges
because of the relationship it created between the interior and
exterior spaces.
"A 'contemporary tropical Queenslander', the walls of the
home can be effectively eliminated and merge indoor and outdoor
living areas," the judges commented.
"The internal spaces have three-metre ceilings and the major
living areas are surrounded by expansive glass sliding and bi-fold
doors allowing the line between indoors and outdoors to be blurred.
"The central courtyard features a pool which has plenty of
privacy and brings the cooling feel of water into the home."
The eye-catching dwelling over-looking the canals of Noosa sold
for more than a million dollars soon after completion.
