BHP
Steel has joined a community-based initiative which this year aims
to raise more than $250,000 for youth services in Newcastle and the
Greater Hunter region.
The sale of a new display home built by Wincrest Homes in East
Maitland featuring roofing made from COLORBOND® steel will support
the Wesley Mission Homes for Hope community programs in the region.
The home is the twelfth Home for Hope to be built since the 1998
inception of the program, which has raised more than $2.5 million
to support Wesley Mission services.
Mr Lachlan McGregor of Wincrest Homes said the company was proud
to join Ashtonfield Estate and BHP Steel in contributing to the
success of the Homes for Hope program.
"The homes are built using donations of the land, materials
such as COLORBOND® steel, building labour and furnishings. They are
then sold on the retail market," said Mr McGregor.
Profits produced from the sale of the homes then directly fund
Wesley Mission's much needed community support programs.
The NEWFM Homes for Hope by Wincrest Homes will remain open for
display until November 2003 in Murphy Circuit, Shamrock Hill Estate,
East Maitland.
The Homestead display is a four-bedroom home in classic colonial
style with a traditional wide verandah to the front and side of
the property.
The roof made from COLORBOND® steel is a key element in the move
by Wincrest Homes to incorporate environmentally friendly building
design and practices.
"The use of COLORBOND® steel in a light colour promotes thermal
efficiency, which is an important consideration in making new homes
more energy efficient," said Mr McGregor.
"The corrugated roof made from COLORBOND® steel also suits
the character of the colonial design.
"And the good thing is that the proceeds from the sale will
stay in the Hunter region for the benefit of the people of the region."
