A
new residential development in Australia's largest growth corridor
is creating a feeling of true community living.
The 222-hectare "Lakeside at Pakenham" development will
feature extensive community facilities built around a 6.5-hectare
lake.
Construction has already begun on the Cardinia Cultural Centre,
which will incorporate a civic plaza, theatre, function centre,
gallery space and an amphitheatre alongside the lake.
The use of fencing made from COLORBOND® steel in the trademarked
colour Summershade throughout the development provides consistency
to reinforce the community feeling the developers are seeking to
generate.
Almost half of the homes already constructed at Lakeside at Pakenham
feature steel roofing made from lightweight COLORBOND® steel.
Lakeside at Pakenham is a joint venture between Delfin Lend Lease
and the Cardinia Shire Council. It will become home to 6500 people.
Lakeside at Pakenham Marketing Services Manager Jason Greenhalgh
said the high percentage of homes being built with COLORBOND®
steel at the development was a direct result of the homeowners'
choice.
"In the 18 months since construction began, 150 homes have
already been built and more than 100 others are now under construction,"
he said.
"More than half the homeowners building at Lakeside at Pakenham
have selected roofing made from COLORBOND® steel for their homes."
Mr Greenhalgh said Delfin Lend Lease specified fences made from
COLORBOND® steel for the Lakeside development because they were
easier to install and more affordable than fences made from alternative
materials.
He said fencing made from COLORBOND® steel provided benefits
for the tradespeople in terms of convenience and ease of construction.
"Home owners are also reaping rewards as they do not have
to paint their fences to protect them from the elements when they
move in, saving them time and money."
